The Chairman of Abkhaz cultural centers Federation in Turkey Ahmet Hapat has arrived to Abkhazia. He had a number of meetings. As he noted he feels comfortable being among his people. Ahmet Hapat shares information:

I have arrived a few days ago; I am having a good time and feeling comfortable among my people. May God bless and protect our homeland-Abkhazia. I arrived to Abkhazia with my 20-year old son, who is studying at the engineering department of University of Turkey.   In a year I will retire on a pension and planning to come back to my motherland.

I hope our people will be valid to fulfill all stated goals. Our traditions, customs, the way of life can be preserved just by our motherland; any other state can no help us if we don’t rely on ourselves.  In Turkey our language was preserved thanks to the villages, we were shy to speak Turkish. Time has changed; people don’t keep their houses so much in villages as they used to do it before. Villages were richer,now there are more factories, people are moving to the cities. If we preserve Apsuara and it will be strong, nothing will confuse us.

The Abkhaz Federation unites 13 Abkhaz cultural centers. We are trying to create cultural centers in cities where our diaspora lives. At the moment we are opening them in Sinop, Adana and Izmir.

Concerning the language, only the motherland can preserve it. It is hard to do it outside the country. This is life experience. If we preserve our motherland, we will preserve the language itself. What can be better than having your own state, motherland and language?

Earlier our Federation has signed an agreement on cooperation with the Abkhaz State Committee for Repatriation. It is indicated in program that our Federation will be rendering assistance in different spheres. We have so many common tasks to fulfill.

I had a meeting with representatives of “International Fund Apsny”, headed by Sener Gogua. The Fund implements a big number of significant projects which help people. We highly appreciated the work of the Fund and discussed issues where our diaspora can also render assistance.

The head of Sukhum administration invited me to the celebration of 2500th anniversary of Sukhum. I am happy to be here; when I go back I will share my impressions with Diaspora living in Turkey. I would like to appeal to my brothers in sisters living in Abkhazia: We should be united, join our efforts and will be able to solve any problem. May God bless you-people living in my motherland Apsny.
