Selchuk Symsym was born in Holland, currently lives in Turkey. Since childhood he has been interested in history culture, traditions and customs of Abkhazia and Abkhaz people. He is a teacher by training, but the history as science has always held a special place in his life. While working on the book "Political History of Abkhazians in the 19-20 centuries", Selchuk studied a huge number of materials, worked in the archives of many countries, collected extensive material, which will be published in six volumes. Selchuk Symsym has been working on this book for 15 years.

"Since childhood, I’ve been interested in everything connected with Apsuara, listened to the stories of elders about Abkhazia, was collecting stories of my people. I remember the words of the Abkhaz elder Alliatin Agrba: "There is no fifty percent of Apsuara in me, which was in my father ..." When I heard this, I felt like the lightning had struck me, and I decided to research this topic. We should study our own history, in order not to lose it. There is still a lot to do, "- said Selchuk Symsym.

All participants noted the depth and the complexity of the work done by him.

"The interest and desire to work on this topic, in my opinion, is explained by love for his homeland, his people. This book will be useful and necessary for everyone who is engaged in research in this area. It is written in understandable language and, I am sure, it will be welcomed by readers, "- said the presenter, the head of Apsuara Committee of «International Fund Apsny" Oktay Chkotua.
