Doctors from Armenia summed up the executive work at the seminar in Sukhum.

On the initiative of the "International Fund Apsny" within the framework of "Health" project, with the participation of doctors - pediatricians from Armenia and Abkhazia the seminar was held in Sukhum. The seminar was attended by Deputy Minister of Health of Abkhazia Batal Katsiya and chief pediatrician of Abkhazia Ada Abukhba.

Highly qualified Armenian doctors, who are working in the leading clinics of Armenia conducted free reception of children with cerebral palsy from June 13 to 16 in the children’s city polyclinic in Sukhum. Among them: Doctor of Medicine, professor, children’s orthopedist traumatic Hovsep Danelyan, the head of child’s neurology department Hasmik Danelyan, child recreation therapist Gayane Zakharyan. The delegation was headed by Lilia Gevorgyan.

Doctors from Armenia stressed that in recent years, medicine in pediatrics has progressed,  the treatment methods and rehabilitation approaches to children with cerebral palsy and autism changed a lot, and it is so important if these knowledge will be available to Abkhaz doctors. 

Armenian doctors have paid attention to the lack of diagnostic equipment of medical institutions of the Republic, but noted that the overall treatment is organized well enough.

During such a short period, doctors received about 300 children, defined the problems and prescribed treatment. The reception of sick children was conducted jointly with the Abkhaz colleagues. Experts from Yerevan shared experiences, knowledge with local doctors, involved parents and gave them recommendations for children care.

Summarizing the executed work of Armenian specialists, the Deputy Minister of Health of Abkhazia Batal Katsiya stressed that this work will produce results and will certainly affect the health of children. He thanked doctors from Armenia and expressed hope and readiness for further cooperation in different areas.

In turn, doctors from Armenia thanked “International Fund Apsny «for giving them the opportunity to visit Abkhazia and work with local population, as well as for the warm welcome.

“One of the main goals of the “International Fund Apsny” is to implement projects connected to public health. We are trying to create conditions for rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy here in Abkhazia, trying to strengthen skills of our doctors. We would like to express our gratitude for accepting our invitation and visiting Abkhazia. Hope that our relations will be closer and we will be able to fulfill our common goals”,-said Sener Gogua.
