May 21- the exile day.

Today is the memorial day of exiled Circassian nations, who experienced one of the greatest tragedies of humankind. Millions of people had to leave their homeland (forcible deportation), and thousands of them died during the exodus. The remembrance events were held in Sukhum. Guests from North Caucasus, State and Public Organizations, Students and Teachers from all Regions of Abkhazia came to lay flowers to the monument dedicated to exiled people.

The President of the Republic of Abkhazia Raul Hajimba and members of Government attended the event.

The adviser of President of the Republic of Abkhazia Vladimir Zantariya, the President of “International Fund Apsny” Soner Gogua, the head of the National Library named after I.Papaskir Boris Cholariya, our compatriot Mamun Maan and Yalsa Atrishba made a speech at the meeting. Attendees had an opportunity to see the books exhibition at the National Library.

Rushbey  Smyr’s poem “Symra” was presented at the Abkhaz State Drama Theatre at 04:00 PM.

The evening program started at 7:00 PM and the Abkhaz traditional candle (Ashamaka) was lightened.

The organizer of all abovementioned events is the “International Fund Apsny” and initiative group of young people.
